Humanities 110, 112, Rosenthal Video Lab, and Rotunda
Goals:
To learn about technology solutions that have the potential to enhance teaching and learning.
To complete or make significant progress on a project that will develop some technology and learning expertise or potentially be used in one of your courses.
Enrollment:
Required for new faculty members who are returning for a second year of teaching (with accommodations for alternate professional development); open to all faculty members for the entire week or for selected morning workshops. All participants are compensated for their time and provided breakfast and lunch daily. Requests for enrollment should be addressed to Kathleen Wallace and Joel Backon. If you are having difficulty identifying a project you would like to pursue, please speak with Joel Backon. The following questions will guide you in exploring potential projects:
Is there something I do well in the classroom I would like to do better?
Is there something I have wanted to do in the classroom, but have not?
Format:
Morning workshops run daily from 9:00 am - 10:30 am (may go longer depending on student engagement). The balance of the day is spent working on your project. If the project requires more than one week to complete, you may apply for a Curriculum Development Grant to compensate for your additional time. All completed projects will be accompanied by a report to Kathleen and Joel.
We recommend that you try your project in one or more of your classes. There is no obligation to continue with the project in the classroom if you do not feel it improves teaching and learning.
